Saturation Point
The current exhibition in the gallery highlights how artists use colour in their work, from subtle pastel shades to full saturation, a fascinating exploration of this critical element in creating art.
Each week throughout the exhibition we are delighted to focus on one of the artists exhibiting their work and to offer an amazing opportunity to own an original piece of the artists work at a reduced price!
Sarah Hoskins
Sarah Hoskins, grew up in Devon and is now based in Bovey Tracey. In 1996 she graduated from Wimbledon School of Art, then completed a Postgraduate Diploma at the Cyprus College of Art in 2002. In 2010 she returned to the Cyprus College of Art, initially as an artist in residence, later progressing to Head of Foundation Studies. Sarah returned to the UK in 2012, where she continues to teach, paint and exhibit her work regularly to regional and worldwide audiences.
‘Whether or Not’, acrylic on wooden panel. Wall price £325 (reduction of £70)
This is an abstract painting that invites the viewer to speculate about what it might be. It is full of imponderables. In some ways painting is like preparing food. It is delicious if the ingredients, proportions and qualities are such that they enhance each other, transforming into something more than the sum its parts. This transformation is what motivates me. To quote the painter Philip Guston “I paint what I want to see”.
