Our three community share offers, grants and donations have now raised over £1.5m - an amazing achievement.
How that sum has been spent is detailed in the attached financial statements.
In 2018 our initial Bovey Paradiso Community Share Offer raised £464,100 in shares – including £100,000 from Big Society Capital – and of the rest, 90% came from our community. Donations raised a further £28,919, making a total of £493,019. This made it possible for us to acquire the old King of Prussia pub and begin refurbishments.
Successful grant applications enabled us to complete the initial building work in 2020. We made further grant applications totalling £382,000. A second share offer fell in the midst of the global pandemic, but still raised a further £107,000 which enabled us to install our professional kitchen, create a dining area and begin the next phase of construction - the atrium and shell of the auditorium.
In 2025 we launched a third share offer and are delighted to welcome more than 95 new shareholders who raised £45,000. This has been combined with two grants to give us a total of £105,000, enabling us to recommence the construction work. We are now able to complete the new main entrance passageway, the kitchen, the cafe/restaurant and the atrium area - opening it up as additional event space. PLUS we are also able to lay the base floor and insulation in the auditorium. We are incredibly grateful for the support from our community and further afield.
We will continue to raise funds to complete the auditorium during the year ahead.
