Film Night - Woman in Gold

Our November film screening at the Gallery will be WOMAN IN GOLD - the remarkable true story of one woman's journey to reclaim her heritage and seek justice for what happened to her family.

Sixty years after she fled Vienna during World War II, an elderly Jewish woman, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt's famous painting 'The Lady in Gold'. Together with her inexperienced but plucky young lawyer Randy Schoenberg (Ryan Reynolds), she embarks upon a major battle which takes them all the way to the heart of the Austrian establishment and the U.S. Supreme Court, and forces her to confront difficult truths about the past along the way.

We will have three screenings, a matinee and evening performance (without subtitles) on the Friday 14th and a screening with subtitles on Saturday 15th.

For the evening performances the doors at the Gallery will open at 18.45 with the film starting at 19.30. For the matinee doors open at 13:45 and starts at 14:30. Drinks (licensed bar) and light snacks will be available to purchase. There will be an intermission for refreshments and leg stretching.  

We recommend that you park at the Mary Street car park, a short 5 minute walk and free after 6pm.
